Ethical approach

Anthrologica advocates a human rights approach and our work is guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN General Comment on the Right to Health and the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief. We are governed by the highest ethical standards and adhere to core values of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy and respect for cultural, ethnic and religious diversity.

We promote gender equity and incorporate capacity building of local actors as good practice in all streams of our work. Our organisational code of conduct is underpinned by professional codes orientated towards social science research as enshrined in the statement of ethics and principles of professional responsibility stipulated by the American Anthropological Association, and the ethical guidelines for good research practice by the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and the Commonwealth.
